We are looking for a Retail Purchaser/Team Leader to join us!
The role is important for the business as you forecast, plan, select, and purchases products for the Chandlery Supermarket ensuring adequate stock is met at all times therefore delivering value to our valued customers by providing a variety of quality products, build strong ties with our present and new suppliers, as well as driving profitability and improving overall customer shopping experience.
You will also oversee staff members to ensure effective execution of our stock control system along with continued awareness of the wholesale business, provide help and planning to Marketing, and give support to the Store Manager and the Warehouse Supervisor, hence ability to work to tight deadlines and working under pressure is a must.
The Role:
1. Monitor stock levels, sales, and metrics as basis for the entire ordering procedure within budget.
2. Plan timely orders for appropriate volumes of stock.
3. Plan seasonal product ranges and ensure their timely delivery.
4. Discover and purchase new products based on quality and popularity.
5. A wide range of knowledge and familiarity with most UK and international products.
6. Set stock promotions / price reductions as appropriate.
7. Guidance and planning with Marketing of any in-store promotions and advertising, website, and social media content.
8. Provide reports for related departments or as required by other members of staff.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Must be physically fit with a 'can do' and positive attitude.
2. Previous retail or warehouse experience is a must.
3. Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.
4. Strong analytical and numerical skills to work out budgets and understand sales figures.
5. Sound decision making skills and the ability to plan ahead and prioritise tasks
6. Computer literacy and IT skills and creative flair
7. Good people skills and ability to manage and lead a team
8. Has the initiative to continuously improve the systems and methods within the department
9. Strong organisational and procedural skills and can perform tasks in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment.
10. Reliability and willingness to engage in continuous improvement within the career.
